RH Guesthouse Opens Its First Hospitality Concept In The Heart Of New York City

RH Guesthouse, the triangular loft building at 55 Gansevoort Street.

RH (Restoration Hardware) is one of my favorite furniture stores to get lost in. With perfectly appointed spaces in typically magnificent buildings, each room is more desirable than the next. On the heels of their successful restaurant concepts attached to their retail stores, RH has now launched its first hospitality experience - called RH Guesthouse New York.

Located in the historic Meatpacking District and only steps from the massive RH New York Gallery in the heart of downtown at 55 Gansevoort, RH Guesthouse oozes luxury and exclusivity. It is as if you are entering a small New York residential building with a private entrance, no check-in desk, private rooftop and pool only for guests staying at the Guesthouse. There is a “no social media” policy as well to ensure the privacy of all guests. RH Chairman & CEO Gary Friedman commented, “The RH Guesthouse has been designed through a lens of privacy and luxury. Privacy is the one thing everyone has given away on social media, and the one thing the internet has taken away, as you can access anyone online. We believe privacy is going to become a large and important market, and the RH Guesthouse has an opportunity to define that new market with an unseen-before level of design, quality, and hospitality.”

The property features just six guest rooms and three guest suites (so yes, it is in fact VERY exclusive), and CEO Friedman's 2,600 square foot private residence occupying the entire top floor, which is sometimes available for booking. Each of the RH-decorated guest rooms are 500 square feet, and suites are 1,100 square feet, with both choices offering two full bathrooms lined with Travertine slabs, architectural lighting, and Fanitini fixtures. Even with 24-hour room service offered at the hotel, there is a freshly stocked gourmet pantry with fresh fruit and treats in each room. And when guests are not relaxing or eating in their rooms, they can use their personal in-room gym equipment - stainless steel and walnut kettlebells, dumbbells and leather yoga blocks, all in RH’s signature style.

On the upper level of the building, guests have access to The Rooftop Garden, a 40-foot-long infinity pool, and a manicured tree-lined terrace with outdoor dining. Signature RH travertine daybeds and decking make guests feel as if they are living the true RH experience.

On the ground level of RH Guesthouse are the property’s two restaurants, including The Dining Room, a beautiful indoor and outdoor dining space outfitted with monochromatic design and a simple yet decadent menu. Menu items include a wood grilled Australian Wagyu rib eye to a fresh-carved rotisserie chicken that is seen cooking in the live-fire kitchen. If it is fish you like, their house favorite is a whole Branzino cooked over Japanese Binchotan charcoal. No detail has been spared from the travertine clad kitchen to the perfectly set table.

At the bottom of the staircase from the restaurant located in the cellar is The Champagne & Caviar Bar, a 32-seat experience lined with walls of the world’s best Champagne and serving Petrossian Caviar in a gorgeous setting adorned with bespoke glass RH lighting.

In opening RH Guesthouse, RH is not looking to create a hotel but an experience for their guests. But potential guests should be aware that the hotel does not allow children or pets, and has a strict two guest per room policy. Rates start at $3500 for guest rooms and $7500 for suites with a two-night minimum. If you are in the Big Apple and always wanted to feel what it would be like to live the ultimate RH experience, this is your opportunity.
