OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 97 confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 illness in 6 states, including 43 hospitalizations and 10 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome. A specific food has not yet been confirmed as the source of this outbreak, but many sick people reported eating burgers and sandwiches with romaine lettuce at Wendy’s restaurants before getting sick.
OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports that the on-line retailer, myturtlestore.com, is the source of an outbreak of 21 Salmonella illnesses, including 8 hospitalizations, in 14 states. the outbreak had been liinked to contact with small turtles.
Allergy Alert: Toufayan Bakery recalls Publix GreenWise Animal Crackers (8-oz pouches; Expiry date Feb 05, 2023; UPC 0-41415-12009-9) due to undeclared coconut.
Food Safety Recall: St. James Smokehouse recalls St. James Smokehouse brand Scotch Reserve Scottish Smoked Salmon (4 oz; Lot 123172; UPC 060022710356; Product of Scotland) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Food Safety Recall: Valrhona Inc recalls Sosa ALBUWHIP dried albumin egg products (1.1-lb. plastic canister; Lots LALB22033, LALB22077, LALB22168 & LALB22200; Product of Italy), as egg products from Italy are not eligible to be imported into the United States. The recalled products were shipped to locations in California, Florida, Nevada, and New York.
PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports 11 illnesses, including 5 hospitalizations, resulting from the consumption of an imported spice product containing aconitine in the province of Ontario. The product has been recalled (see recall notice, below).
Allergy Alert: Nature’s Intent, LLC recalls Nature’s Intent brand Dark Chocolate Enrobed Pineapples (100g; Best if used by 2022 OC 20; UPC 8 57308 00522 6) due to undeclared milk.
Allergy Alert: Ferme des Voltigeurs inc. (Drummondville, QC) recalls Tourtière au poulet de grain / Grain-fed chicken pie (600g; Sold up to 1 September 2022) due to undeclared milk and soy.
Food Safety Recall: Ka Wing Hong recalls Mr. Right brand Keampferia Galanga Powder / Sand ginger powder (454g; Product code AT154; Lot code CAAJ13; UPC 69 892102 8038) due to aconitine contamination. This product is associated with a number of illnesses reported recently among patrons of a restaurant in Markham, Ontario.
Food Safety Recall: WK Produce recalls Enoki Mushroom (150g; All units sold up to and including September 1, 2022; UPC 6 950319 388884) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.
Food Safety Recall: Les Bâtards (Sherbrooke, QC) recalls CHAMPIGNONS MARINÉS / Marinated mushrooms (500 ml; Sold up to 31 August 2022) and TRUITE FUMÉE / Smoked trout (Sold up to 31 August 2022) due to lack of required storage temperature labeling.
Allergy Alert (Belgium): Albert Heijn recalls AH Plantaardige cheesecake Citroen / Vegetarian lemon cheesecake (Expiry dates 18/09, 25/09, 01/10/22) and AH Plantaardige Cheesecake met blauwe bessen / Vegetarian cheesecake with blueberries (Expiry dates 03/09, 12/09, 17/09, 26/09, 01/11/2022) due to undeclared nuts.
Allergy Alert (Finland): Lidl recalls Caribbean Style Vegan Dessert Passion Fruit (2 x 100g; Best before 17.9.2022) due to undeclared walnuts.
