Kristina Taheri, owner of Kristina Taheri Special Events, has lived in Hinsdale with her husband and their two teenage children for five years. Her event management company, which focuses on fundraising, social events, and weddings is headquartered in Hinsdale and stages events in Chicago and its suburbs—as well as San Francisco, where Taheri first established her business in 2003. Here are some of Taheri’s favorites from around country and town.

What’s on the horizon? Lots of festive fall benefits and holiday parties!

Mantra? Non, je ne regrette rien… (No, I don’t regret anything…)

Best beauty tip? Keep nails short. Nude or red polish is the most versatile and classic. A smile and a great attitude go a long way.

Guilty pleasure? Pressed linen sheets. Tortilla chips—I eat them all the time!

Music you love? All genres. Music is my sanity.

Best advice ever given to you? Nothing beats a timely handwritten thank you note.

Best advice you’ve given? I’m always quoting the “golden rule” to our son and daughter. To my staff, I always advise they work in flats as 12-hour event days are murder on the feet.

Earliest memory? Backflipping into a swimming pool and ending up with 10 stitches in my head.

When you wake up, you? Immediately head to my sunroom with a big mug of hot coffee.

Before bed, you? Hopefully get a foot rub from my husband.

What’s on your bookshelf? I’m trying to keep up with two book clubs. Outside of that, at bedside I have the Elena Ferrante Italian trilogy, A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, Stoner by John Williams.

You can’t live without? Time in the sun and foreign travel.

Love to escape to? Texas hill country.

Your style is? Tailored blouses, chunky jewelry, and skinny slacks with flats.

Can’t leave the house without? Lipstick and phone

Transportation? Big Acura MDX, constantly filled with event goods and athletic equipment.

Driving music? Anything upbeat and always excited when I get to belt out a huge hit like Stevie Nicks “Stand back, stand back…”

Place to eat? Breakfast at Yia Yia’s, lunch at Hanbun, cocktails at Fuller House, dinner at Vistro. And then there’s always the comfort of the club.

Shop? Seem to frequent Barley Twist, Stockholm Objects, and Ashley’s on a regular basis.

Best thing about the Country? Good manners, the many who donate time and resources to the community, blue ribbons, planning residential events.

Worst thing about Country? Constant landscape maintenance.

The perfect day is? Wine on the patio while waiting to enjoy my husband’s excellent cooking and having no kids’ activities to attend.

Your style is? Fitted silk or knit dresses with high heels, cashmere wrap, and a fun clutch. Can’t leave the house without? Lots of cash for tipping.

Transportation? When I don’t have to drive, train, Uber, or shared limo with a large group of friends.

Driving music? Some smooth hip hop, like Jay Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”

Place to eat? Too many for a foodie to list! Most swanky, Brindille, RH’s 3 Arts Club Cafe for on-trend, favorite BYOB are underground supper clubs like Yo Soy or Honey Butter Fried Chicken.

Shop? Anne Fontaine for blouses on Michigan Avenue, Circa Lighting on Wells, Jayson Home and Garden on Clybourn, Redefined Decor on West Grand.

Best thing about the Town? Stylish hotel bars and live theater.

Worst thing about the Town? Waiting for valet after work.

The perfect day is? Spending time at my parent’s chic place in Old Town and having lively family dinners.
